Annecy
Annecy has an idyllic setting, close to Switzerland and Italy with easy access by road, rail and air. Annecy offers an abundance of beautiful scenery situated between the two cities of Geneva and Lyon in the French Alps. A panoramic view of the mountains, fresh air and the lake of Annecy form the special surroundings during your stay. The lake is amongst the most beautiful and cleanest in Europe and offers plenty of water sports facilities, especially during the summer. Leading to the lake is a tiny canal that is lined with boats for summer trips to the lake. This canal is guarded by the Pont des Amours with its picturesque view of the bridge and from the bridge.
The city itself is charming. It is a lovely place to go for a walk, particularly in the historic centre of town with its small canals and narrow, twisting streets. At the heart of the city is a little island building, Le Palais de l'Isle , that once housed the local prison. Apparently, this prison was still in use up until not too long ago. Annecy is a magnificent holiday resort, both in summer and winter. During the summer you can go for long walks, hike in the mountains or cycle (bikes can be rented locally) and during the wintertime good ski resorts can be found only 35 km away.
